Tool 10: LETS GO MOBILE with I-SERIOUS (APPLE)

Apple seems to be the leading competitor when it comes to devices, and other handhelds that host multiple apps, internet, at the touch of your fingers. Sounds like an apple promotion almost :), however I think one of the newest things to compete with Apple and their products are the Android Phones, and if I am not mistaking they are currently releasing devices that are MP3 capable with the "Android" operating system. Basically with these services being hosted by "GOOGLE" itself I think that some of the things we do just alone here on this blog would be more suitable coming from the company that sponsors them. Not to detour here though, some of the cool apps I have noticed not necessarily free when speaking on Health Fitness is the Pedometer app, which records your steps, they have Brainpop- Good Health Topics to discuss or even allow students to have at their fingertips, and the neat thing about this program is that they have subtitles, and if on the 1st generation ipod touch they do not have an external speaker, so if you have no headphones you would be entirely out of luck. I like the Ifit, which is like a calorie tracker, and also helps you perform searches to find out calorie count on certain foods that may not come with nutritional facts. There is even a program not sure of the name exactly but if you search keywords for exercises, it will pull up the muscle groups and different types of exercises you can do to strengthen and condition those muscles. Again I think it would be nice to sit down with a developer and discuss certain applications that could be created to benefit our specific field (Health Fitness) There is no impossibilities it is just finding the right people and creating the right applications geared towards our students needs. I think the students could use these specific apps listed above to learn and master certain skills that are taught. There are endless possibilities that could be discussed all day about things we would need/want for our classroom. Now in our schools we have wifi, however the only downfall I could see to accessing certain apps that require an internet connection would be if there was not an internet connection present. Most apps once downloaded however would not require an internet connection.
